| Welcome to the website of the Open Space Coalition of Benton and Franklin Counties (OSCBF), Washington State.
The OSCBF provides a forum for coordinating and maximizing the effectiveness of groups and individuals with common principles supporting our mission.
The mission of OSCBF is to create a network of undeveloped natural open spaces that preserves our community’s hillsides, ridge tops, canyons, shorelines, waterways, and shrub-steppe habitat.
This website provides citizens with a means to better understand and participate in the processes shaping the future of our natural open spaces.
...our home is unique. |
 | | From our Rivers... | Nowhere else on the planet do three major rivers come together surrounded by landforms shaped by ice-age floods. |
 |
...to our Ridge Tops | The challenge is to design a development plan that respects and incorporates these unique land forms.
Rapid growth is forcing us to make difficult decisions as to the fate of these places that we have taken for granted for decades. Complex and difficult choices are being made. These choices will forever shape the face of our land. What will our community look like tomorrow, next year, 50 years from now? Will future generations thank us for our vision and wisdom?
“Examine each question in terms of what is ethically and aesthetically right, as well as what is economically expedient.” -Aldo Leopold
